JOE GOLD is the on-site director. He brings his passion and experience in camping to Banbury Kids Camp. Joe is actively involved in all aspects of the operation of the camp. Not only does he spend September to June preparing and planning for camp, but each day of the summer he is on the grounds with the kids and staff making sure that everything runs smoothly and that the campers have the most fun and safe summer possible. Joe has been a teacher with the York Region District School Board for the past 9 years and brings his expertise in working with children to the camp environment.
GAIL SACKS has been involved with Banbury Kids Camp since it first began, 20 years ago. She is the “behind-the-scenes” director sourcing out new specialists and dynamic programs, handling camper registration, and managing inquiries during the winter. Gail incorporates her passion for the arts within the camp by organizing the Camp Show which takes place in July and by providing input into the craft making specialties.
As a team, Joe and Gail work together year round to ensure campers are provided with the best possible programs and experiences a camp has to offer.
Some of our counselors have returned from previous years and new staff are interviewed and selected by the director and parent volunteers. They are chosen on the basis of their genuine interest in working with children, as well as their character, personality and talents.
ALL COUNSELLORS AT BANBURY KIDS CAMP ARE FIRST AID/CPR CERTIFIED AND TRAINED IN USING AN EPI-PEN.
Banbury Kids Day Camp is a non-profit summer program for children
ages 3-8 that was started by a volunteer parent committee in affiliation
with North York Parks and Recreation. We offer a unique summer program
for children ages 3-8. Our goal is for our campers to enjoy a wonderful
fun-filled experience in a caring, enthusiastic and creative environment.
A low camper/counselor ratio helps each child feel comfortable and
secure whether it is their first camp experience or not. We hire teachers, ECE’s, student teachers, experienced counselors, counselors in training, and individuals who have a passion for the outdoors and for working with children. All references are checked thoroughly.
